Why it is essential to secure access to your email?

Your privacy is our priority while trading with Geco.one. That's why we don't require our clients to undergo a KYC verification process, exposing personal information. Therefore, your email is your primary form of ID.
Remember that losing access to your email may result in you being unable to access your Geco.one account. We strongly recommend enabling 2FA additional security on your email account.

How can I secure my Geco.one account?

We recommend using your email with a unique password combination that you are not using for other services. Moreso, we highly recommend enabling 2FA (2-factor authentication). You can enable these features from the dashboard on your account.

Can I change the email address associated with my account?

The Password Recovery feature found on the Geco.one login page will allow you to reset your account password.

What do I do if I lose or reset my 2FA device/phone?

When you enable 2FA on your account, you will receive a backup code - remember to store it safely. You can use this code to restore 2FA time codes for your account.

Is it possible to access a detailed report of all trading activity on my account?

Trading

What order types are available?

Geco.one provides five types of orders - Quick Transaction, Market, Limit, Stop & OCO.

What are Long and Short positions on Geco.one?

You can hold either Long or Short positions on Geco.one.

Short-selling is selling when you think the price is high with the idea to re-buy lower. This strategy capitalizes on anticipated market decline.

Long-selling is buying at a price you believe to be low, with the intention of re-selling high. This strategy capitalizes on the anticipated market rise.

What is leverage on Geco.one?

Leverage reflects the amount of your personal funds required to open and maintain a position compared to that position's size. For example, 100x leverage means that, if you use $1,000 of your funds, you will be able to trade with a position size of up to $100,000. Likewise, a position of $100 would require only $1 of your funds.

Check out the leverage tutorial here.

Can I adjust my leverage?

The highest possible leverage is provided automatically when you open a position, and you control it by choosing your position size. For example, let's say you have 0.1 BTC as equity in your trading account, and you wish to trade BTC/USD. You can open a maximum position of 10 BTC. It will result in maximum margin utilization at 100x leverage, and 0% of Available Margin will remain.

However, you don't have to open such a large position. Opening a 0.5 BTC position, on the other hand, would only use 5x leverage against your equity of 0.1BTC - leaving you with plenty of available margin.  This would also lower the risk of your position being liquidated should the market move against you.

Position size is, therefore, the key to managing your risk, and you are in full control of it.

Please note that we do not recommend utilizing 100% of your Available Margin as this creates a significant risk of liquidation with even the smallest price move against you.

Check out the leverage tutorial here.

What is the Geco.one price SPREAD?

The Bid-Ask SPREAD - also known as Price SPREAD, is the difference between the Bid and the Ask price of any given asset. When you are buying an asset, you will get the Ask price; you will get the Bid price when selling. The Ask price is usually a little higher than the Bid price, and the difference between these two amounts is known as "the SPREAD". Chart candles on Geco.one show the Bid price of the asset in question.

What is meant by slippage?

When a market order is placed, slippage is the difference between the expected price and the actual price the order was executed at. Slippage most commonly occurs when markets experience high volatility or when liquidity in order books is too thin to execute trades at the trigger price (Bid/Ask), thus creating a gap in the requested and executed price.

How long is it possible to keep a position open for on Geco.one?

Your positions can remain open indefinitely, as long as your available margin does not drop to 0%. Please note, however, that a SWAP fee of 0.01% is charged every 8h.

Why was my order rejected?

There are many reasons orders can be rejected. The most common reasons are not having enough Available Margin in your account and/or markets for the selected instrument being closed. The Geco.one 'Messages' widget contains all system messages with a detailed explanation of why an order was rejected.

Can I use Stop Loss/Take Profit?

Of course! You are able to add Stop Loss and Take Profit protective orders to any Limit, Market, or Stop order as well as Quick Transaction & OCO. We've made a handy video on placing Stop Loss and Take Profit orders for you to check out here.

Why was my Stop Loss/Stop Buy order executed even though the chart suggests the trigger price was not met?

Geco.one charts reflect top-of-the-book BID quotes received from our liquidity providers (not FILL prices). Therefore, please keep in mind that Stop Loss/Stop Buy orders are triggered when top-of-the-book ASK quotes reach the price specified in your Stop Loss/Stop Buy order. ASK quotes are higher than BID (See 'What is the Geco.one Price Spread?). Top-of-the-book ASK quotes are indicated in green on the price range field of the chart. In this case, if your SL/Stop Buy order was executed, this means that the ASK price of the asset did indeed reach the price specified in your order.

Why was my Take Profit/Limit Buy order NOT executed even though the chart's price dropped and reached it?

As above, however, in this case, if your TP/Limit buy order was NOT executed, this would mean that the ASK price of the asset did NOT reach the price specified in your order.

Why did my Stop Loss order get filled at a different price to my order?

Stop Loss protection orders are delayed orders executed when the ASK/BID price of an asset reaches your Stop Loss order trigger price. Stop Loss orders are executed as Market orders once the trigger price is met. It is filled, taking into account the SPREAD for your chosen order size.

What is liquidation?

Liquidation means that your currently open positions will be closed at the market price if margin requirements are not maintained. First, you receive Magin Call when your margin reaches 25%. Suppose you don't secure your position by adding funds. In that case, liquidation will occur if the Available Margin reaches 10%, as your account's Available Margin will not be able to cover any continuing losses.

How can I increase my Available Margin?

You can increase your Available Margin any time by closing open positions or transferring additional funds into your trading account.

Does Geco.one use Cross-margin or Isolated margin?

At Geco.one we employ a Cross-margin system. We feel this offers our traders more flexibility and gives them the ability to adapt quickly to market moves.

Does Unrealized P/L include fees incurred for a trade?

No, Unrealized P/L does not include any fees incurred from trades.

What are the fees?

Trade Fees are as follows:

  • 0.03% for all crypto/USD
  • 0.024% for all crypto/USD discounted by a Elite Membership purchased only with a native token - Gecoin (GEC)

SWAP is the same for all instruments and is charged at a rate of 0.01% every 8h.

You can find detailed information regarding Fees and Overnight Financing rates for all available instruments on the Fees and Conditions page.

What is a Trading day?

A Trading day is a 24-hour period that begins at 00:00 UTC and ends at 23:59:59 UTC. The use of a trading day allows us to determine when a DAY order should be cancelled (if it is not filled) and when Overnight Financing should be charged.

Understanding Buy and Sell Prices and SPREAD on our Trading Platform

The SELL price is the price on the chart, which is the market price of the asset that is visible on the chart. On the other hand, the BUY price is the market price increased by the SPREAD, which for the BTC/USD pair is 65 Pips. This means that the BUY price is slightly higher than the actual market value, and this difference is the SPREAD.

When opening a BUY position, you need to take into account the value of the SPREAD, which should be added to the chart price to obtain the actual purchase price. However, when closing an open BUY position, the closing price is equal to the market value.

In the case of opening a SELL position, the price is equal to the market value without an additional cost of the SPREAD. However, when closing an open SELL position, the SPREAD is added to the price.

GEC token

What is Gecoin (GEC)?

GEC is a utility token for the Geco.one cryptocurrency derivatives exchange.

Launched in August 2020, Geco.one is a cryptocurrency derivatives exchange registered in Estonia. Geco One OÜ is certified as a Founding Member of the Polish-Estonian Chamber of Commerce. The exchange offers access to the top cryptocurrency pairs. You can trade the most popular Crypto/USD pairs using BTC, ETH, GEC & USDT as collateral with all the professional tools you need for the best trading experience.

Gecoin is built on the Ethereum network - the most popular ERC-20 standard in the cryptocurrency world.

The coin has a limited supply of 173 105 106 GEC, and it has deflationary tokenomics. The burning events will occur every 3 months until the total supply is reduced to 80mln GEC (less than 50% of total initial supply).

What does deflationary tokenomics mean?

GEC token has deflationary tokenomics (token economy) designed to stimulate the growth of the GEC token’s value over time.

All the GEC tokens, once used, are transferred to the one wallet address and then sent to a unique wallet without the key so nobody cannot retrieve tokens in any way - that’s called a “burning” procedure.

The total amount of tokens created is 173 105 106 GEC. The first burning took place on December 28, 2021. Every quarter the number of GEC tokens used on the platform over three months is burned permanently. For GEC, the goal of coin-burning events is to gradually reduce its total supply until it’s under 80 million GEC (just below 50% of the total initial supply of 173105106 GEC).

Where can I access burning data?

Each burn event is publicly accessible and you can see them here:

1st Burn - 6 105 106 GEC (3.53% of total supply):

2nd Burn - 100 000 GEC (0.05% of total supply):

3rd Burn- 120 000 GEC (0.07% of total supply):

4th Burn - 460 682 GEC (0.27% of total supply):

You can also view a Smart Contract here.

What can I gain using the GEC token?

You can create a trading account for the GEC token and start multiplying it using available trading & staking.

Gecoin hodler can use the token on the Geco.one exchange as collateral while trading. Every trade made in the Geco.one derivative exchange is subject to a 0.03% trading fee on opening a closing position. Geco.one already offers competitive transaction fees, but GEC holders can cut their fees by 20%, which is a cut from 0.03% to just 0.024%. Each Gecoin used to lower the commission is permanently burned - this allows for a more organic (natural) decline in GEC supply.

Gecoin can also be used for staking four different cryptocurrencies: BTC, ETH, USDT & GEC, and bring you a passive income up to 8% per annum, effectively exceeding the current banking offers.

The possible staking plans are: 30 days (0.5% interest rate), 90 days (1.8% interest rate), 180 days (3.8% interest rate) and 360 days (8% interest rate).

Users get to profit from staking their cryptocurrencies, but they can also benefit from the volatility of a given currency during the staking period.

How can I access staking and discounts?

To access a 20% discount on trading fees and gain access to staking, you need to purchase the Elite Membership (cost 50 GEC/month). You can enable/disable the subscription at any time without additional costs.

How can I buy gec?

There are three ways to buy or sell GEC tokens. You can use CEX exchange - Coinsbit and Latoken, or DEX exchange - Uniswap.

The GEC token is available on four exchanges simultaneously and guarantees a position among cryptocurrencies on the list of Coinmarketcap, Coinpaprika, and Coingecko.

Where can I hold gec?

You can store your GEC safely on Geco.one exchange’s wallet, cryptocurrency wallets like MetaMask.io or cold wallets like Ledger Nano or Trezor.
